Great tank, comes with refugium built in the back. I up graded the lighting to leds and my corals pop.

In January 2012 I added a 48" reefbrite XHO actinic to my tek light 6-bulb light fixture; the new addition made an extremely noticeable difference in the colouration of the tank. Mounting the unit took about 10 minutes and I found very easy to do on the tek lights. The actinic really pops colours such as oranges and greens however I would play around with bulb placement and/or colours spectrums as the actinic model does add a lot of blue. Great for supplemental lighting The shimmer is noticeable and provides a natural look to the tank which MH also provides but T5's do not

I bought mine used as well. Worked okay on my 60 gallon tank but now have it on 125 gallon tank and i don't believe its as good as its advertised.

I have it running on my 125 gallon tank but for hangon skimmer its pretty good.

Currently have this on my heavy stocked 150gl with a 60gl sump and my tank is super clean. The skim mate production is unbelievable. I empty the cup every 3-4 days. The ratings are very accurate as posted so I have the skimmer dialed back to dry skim.Highly recommend any Octopus product - I have owned 3 of their skimmers and all performed amazingly. The pump has comes with a 3 year warranty! Construction of the skimmer body is excellent.

Excellent skimmer. I have had 4 skimmers in the past and by far this skimmer out competed them. I have been running this on heavily stocked 150 for about year and I empty the cup every 2-3 days. This skimmer pulls some really thick stinky skim-mate - whole family knows when I am cleaning it just from the smell lolRatings posted are very accurate.

I have the 5500 model and I am using it for a return pump on a 150gl. Perfect size!
