Thumbs up 1Terrabyte of FREE cloud storage...

Here's a sweet freebie for those of you who need a little extra cloud storage for your photos. Right now, you can get 1TB of space absolutely free by signing up with Flickr.

A couple of other improvements to the Flickr service include full resolution photos and a more intuitive app for Android and iOS devices which makes it easier to share and send photos.

Not sure how long this will be offered - so get it while you can.

Re: 1Terrabyte of FREE cloud storage...

OK, question for you - I take video of Travis' sports in HD. Each game is about 5GB in size - I'd love to put these in cloud storage instead of just relying on external hard drives, but with the upload speeds I can get (rogers) it would take for ever - how the hell do I work around that? A 1GB highlite of one of his hockey games uploaded to youtube takes about 8 hrs to upload.

That is a restriction of your service. The only option is to upgrade your internet service to get a faster upload speed. Also watch your bandwidth caps. If you convert your video to h.264 (mp4 v10)you can still get high definition with a smaller size.

1TB is cool but kinda rediculous unless you are uploading a ton of video. I logged in with my google account but personally I love dropbox.com . The PC app runs in the background and creates a folder on your computer. Copy what ever you want into that folder and it syncs it with the dropbox service. Copy it into the public folder, right click and you can get a dropbox public link for posting pictures. Dropbox also has cool mobile apps, take a picture with your phone, put the picture in dropbox and its automatically accessible from your PC in the dropbox folder. ONly down side is 2GB of free storage but for the amount of photo's I do and the fact that I do low res for internet sharing, this has been enough for me.

Is this pure cloud storage like google drive or is it just for video/picture storage like what traditional Flickr does ?
