BA's always seem to have these dirt cheap Anemones called Pink or Rose Anemone. They retail for under 10 bucks. Does anyone know how they behave and if they are suitable for a tank. The ones I saw the last time looked really bad and it just made me a bit suspicious along with the price.

The ones you saw had probably just came in, as all anemone's look like garbage after being shipped. Pink tips are abundent and thus there price is low. they are like any other anemone... they would probably be the best to start with. Pink tips range in actual color from white with pink tips, all the wat to orange and electric purple. The main thing to worry about is picking one that has been at the store for a little while and one that is looking healthy... If you are a little suspicious then you could always ask them to put your selection on hold for 3 days and you can come back and see if it is looking the same/better/worse ect.

What is the survivability rate of this type of anemone? Are they difficult to keep?

Those anemones are also referred to as Pink Tip Condys. They originate in the Atlantic and are not a natural host for Clowns. I have one in my tank from BA's and it is doing extreemly well. Just make sure you get the one with the most color. Leave it if it is bleached at all.

Here is a pic of the one in my tank.

Cancruiser, that site said that they will sting corals. In your pic the Shrooms are growing right next to it so.......does it sting corals or? Did you have any problems with agression?

It could sting some corals but there has been no issue with the mushrooms. Actually the mushrooms are extending through the tentacles of the condy. I have not problem with aggression yet. I just keep him well fed with krill.

Hans,
Condies, Condylactis gigantea, get to be 40cm across. I don't think I'd be able to sleep at night with a monster condy in a nano ...

OOPS..... then I will have to get one, hehehe. Will be the cheapest reef tank in history, just 7.99 and the tank is fully stocked!

True jason but it also says that they usually get to be only 10cm base in an aquarium.
Hopefully anyways :)

I find that whenever something say "usually" it does not include me or anything that is mine....bet you mine would have grown to 45cm.

Pink tips are big time travelers and have also been know to climb up/in your filters and overflow boxes thus instant tank of milk. I would advise against the purchase. But if you want risk it it's a cheap animal to watch for 9-12 months.
