Hi! I was recently given 2 paired angel fish (1 pair about 4" round and the other pair about 5-6" round!)

1 pair consists of a black marbeled one with a silver/black striped one (both have the rough scales on them..) and the other pair are both standard silver/striped with red eyes.

Both pairs lay eggs almost weekly/or every 2 weeks! I was quite amazing how often they lay eggs.

Problem is that the (black+silver) couple would lay their eggs then the black (male?) would soon after eat them all.

The other pair takes decent care of the eggs, but a couple of days after they all turn white and then they'd eat them all.

What should I do? I'm looking at breeding them (have a 20 gallon + 33 gallon + 80 gallon+ tank all ready to go..

I'd like to raise the eggs myself, but I'm starting to believe that the eggs are maybe not getting fertalized? could it be?

any infos would be appreciated!

regards,
jess.

Hello Mistah and Welcome,

As far as your Angels eating the eggs, that is normal behaviour as most fish will eat both the egss and the babies. You have to choices:

1. Remove the eggs from that tank and place it into a tank of its own so that then can survivie.

2. Remove the other Angels so that they wont eat the eggs.

Now if you choice 2 then beware that even if they do hachet the parents might still eat the babies after a few days and this is normal too.

Good luck....
