OK, I got this corn anemone back in March and up to yesterday it looked great. Here is a shot from the 24th

Now today, I woke up to this....

http://www.execulink.com/~cancruiser/tank/anemonejun27.jpg

There is VERY slight movement but I am wondering if it has dies. Even yesterday it was open and moved from one side of a rock to another spot.

As there is some slight movement I have left him in the tank. Is it on the way out or ........

Any help would be appreciated.

All of my levels in the tank are right where they should be so I can't tfigure out what's going on. Everything else in the tank is thriving. My ric has doubled in size to roughly 6 inches across in the last few weeks.

Whats going on........

So, After I posted my last message the family went out. I just got home and headed straigth to the tank to see whats up with the anemone.

The color has returned but it looks like it is starting to split. Maybe maybe not, I really don't know enough about this anemone to tell for sure.

There is a crease going from left to right through him that seems to be getting deeper. The right side of him is starting to inflate again as well.

Thoughts?

Just give it a lil extra flow and maybe it will start to inflate a bit, but becareful not to give to much it might upset it and put it back to the way it was.

RIP little buddy...

I came home from work today to a disintegrating anemone. The cleaner shrimp were picking him apart.

This one baffles me, the water specs were right the anemone was eating the clowns were hosted. Three days ago all was well......

With everything I have read this just doesn't seem right. Maybe because it was a wild caught and never got use to captivity?

The clowns now look lost.

RIP little Buddy......

That's a real bummer, it was a beautiful animal. Sorry for yours and the clownfish's loss.

Damn, hate to see them go. They always seem to do fine right up until they depart, meaning its a really quick decline. Sorry for your loss,

Brent

Never buy bleached anemones! They are hard to nurse back to health. There is no suck thing as a white anemone period!

Sorry for your loss.

Hello

Sorry to hear about your loss. This is one reason I over many years have learned never to buy any animal unseen. Buying animals unseen is very risky at best.

it was magnificient , it went from the size of a baseball to a beach ball when fully inflated. Then I moved it closer the light. it split out of stress, then 3 weeks of air bubbler only to have hide and die and almost wipe me out . Here is what an expert told me:
"There is still quite a bit about anemone keeping we don’t know, waiting a few months is a pretty good idea. Some of the science guys still suspect vibrio infections." I also lost my rose anemone. It is terrible to see the clowns looking for them .
My clarki developed serious popeye. After a month still has it slightly. The other clown is going to need serious psychiatric care for depression.

Hello

I just find it very interesting that the bacteria species vibrio is mentioned as a cause for what ever misfortune happens to Cnidaria. Very often this strain of bacteria is found on infected animals. But it has yet to be proven to cause most of the problems it is given credit for.

Most bacteria infections are secondary by nature and have found to be opportunists. All our tanks have main strains of vibrio living in them which cause us no harm.
