Regal tang!

Discription:
These fish belong to a beautifly coloured type of fish called tangs. These tangs require LOTS of swimming room. Minimum size tank is a 70 gallon. All tangs have sharp blades just before the tail.

Food:
Like all tangs regals are herbavroes and live off of greens. In captivity they are fed from the clip.

Size:
2-12 inches.

Social Behavior:
These fish can be territorial against other tangs if not provided enough swimming space.

feel free to post more!

Maximum Size in Aquarium: 12"

Some would argue minimum tank size is more like a 4 - 6 foot long 90 - 120 G to provide the open swimming space these fish need.

Warning:
Prone to ich and other skin parasites as well as head and lateral line erosion.

Temperment:
Generally peaceful and will not bother invertebrates and most other fish although may be aggressive toward fish with a similar body shape.

Can be shy, and should be given plenty of hiding places. If a specimen is spending a lot of time hiding, a school of chromis or similar fish can help make them more comfortable and draw them out into the open more often.

Although tangs are herbavroes, my large (sailfin) tang does eat soft krill pellets. Never seen another tang do that.

Regal tangs have big appetites and grow quickly when thriving. I feed my Nori daily, but he also loves frozen brine, spirulina flake, and Formula 1 and 2 pellets.

To allow for proper time to discuss your findings and to mimimze the ammount of work on your part I suggest that it becomes a monthly thing anyway. You must put your school work first...Then we know we are getting your best work as you won't be rushed..

I thank you for even starting SWFOTW it has taught some stuff I didn't know!!
