Just found this thread...sorry I didn't reply earlier.

First of all...I have no idea who this company is. I purchase from one of the market leaders in RO and RO/DI technology to ensure quality.

Second of all...adding a second Carbon filter is over-kill and will only add another filter replacement cost to the equation. A run a 7-Stage unit myself, and the way it is set-up is:

{Tap Water IN}--[Sediment]--[Carbon]--[RO Membrane1]--[RO Membrane2]--[DI]--[DI]--[DI]--{OUT}

If they wanted to set-up a PROPER 5-Stage unit, then there would be a second DI cartridge and not the carbon.

You are welcome to inquire directly to Marianne Brizzio, President of AquaFX who has a degree in Aquatic Engeneering for the exact reasons and an in-depth explanation, as I am not a qualified "expert" in any way.

Third - You are purchasing from a Canadian company and have your warranty protected from BOTH the manufacturer and AquariumPros.ca

Fourth - I have the following added to our units:

Pressure Gauge - Insures proper installation and operation - Reg. $29.99 CAD
Membrane Flush Kit - prolongs RO Membrane life - Reg. $19.99 CAD
1/2 Price purchase of a Hanna Hand-Held TDS meter - Reg. $49.99

Fifth - When purchasing from the US, you will have to convert the funds from USD to CAD (approx. 1.55) = $215.00 CAD - then you must add in the Customs Duty/GST - which would be another $40+ dollars CAD + whatever they are going to charge for freight (as they only list it as $25 USD within the 48 Contiguous U.S. States). Ask anyone who has bought from the US, to work out the estimated LANDED cost of the item you will have to DOUBLE the USD cost - thus it would be about $278.00 CAD landed, and you're not getting the extras that we offer, the Canadian support should there be a problem nor are you supporting a Canadian company.

This is only to mention a few things...but do watch out when buying directly from the US as you will get HIT HARD on import charges that you don't expect!!! Just to let you know, after I pay the cost of the unit + shipping + duty + GST, I make a total of $20 CAD per RO/DI unit we sell - that's IT. I only offer these units to my customers as a helping hand - as the normal price on this item would be $349.99.

Please do bring this up directly to Marianne for further information.

All I know is that you would not be unhappy with one of the RO/DI units we are offering. Just ask some of our customers (should anyone who has one of our RO/DI units want to step in here, please do feel free).

**NOTE - I am moving this to the RO/DI Discussion Forum**

Best regards,

AJ,

You do not leave much out!

Some other features that might interest you are, the bracket is Aluminum. This means it will never rust. We have gotten many others back with rusted out brackets. When you use steel in a salt and water enviroment you will rust sooner or later. It does cost us about 5 times the $$ to bring you a quality bracket, but we feel it is worth it.

Quick disconnect fittings. Here too we spend more than a few dollars on the fitting. Example a Jaco (tube insert, compession fitting) costs $0.08. One of our John Guest fittings costs US $2.59 (USD). We provide a petcock with all units so you can stop flow to change your filters.

Oh yeah, filter change...not only is the bracket Aluminum, but is has space to get your filter wrench in the middle bracket. With others you will see all the filters are crammed together. Just one more thing we do to make your life and our unit better.

OK, I will stop. But let me know if you need more info!!!
