See what too much CO2 will do to your reactor
 :blown::eek2:

H$#@% crap Mitch. Thats terrible.
The effluent adjustment should always be wide open when filling with water and the co2. Or they will fracture from pressure. To late to mention that I guess. :) Nothing we all have not done in some way or another with our equipment. Believe me, your not alone.
How much co2 did that? Did you have your line pressure to high? George going to send you another top piece?

I'll remember that the next time:D

About 2 seconds worth
Did you have your line pressure to high?
Yes, I plugged the solinoid in before dialing the pressure down. It was sitting around the 40 pound mark :eek2:
George going to send you another top piece?
I hope so

Mitch, the weirdest part is, yesterday I set my printer up,{still boxed since moving}, and in amongst the printer paper, was the instructions form George for the reactor.
If you still want them, I can mail it on Monday.

Mitch, Yes, he is. If you need any help, let me know. I have not used a controller though.
I still think about 8 lbs on the regulator is more than enough. Thats all I used on 3 different reactors. Also I dont think the Mag2 is overkill. It just recirculates the water. I would say besides Eheims, 75% of all reactors use them. {just a guess}.:) The 4 reactor makers I know, suggest them.
I would also use the bubble counter in line with the co2. That way you can still keep track of the rate. All the controller does, is shut down the co2 if the tank ph drops to low. Is that correct? So that would mean the co2 bubble rate still needs adjustment.
I would ;
1. Run the co2 through the bubble counter.
2. Set the pressure just under 10# to start with.
3. When filling the reactor with water, make sure the effluent control is wide open, no co2.
4. Get a steady run of output. After a period of time back it off, to a steady drip for a start, almost a stream. Leave it that way for a day.
5. Turn the co2 on. You can have the pressure set very low at first, then turn it up to about 10# if you wish. The needle valve should be off when doing this.
6. Slowly turn the needle valve open, until you get a slow bubble rate. Start at about 30bbm and back the effluent off slightly, to steady drip or if measured, about 35ml/min.
