How do you guys keep the scum off the top of the water on your nano's? I can't seem to clear it up.
thanks

You can use a surface skimmer, check out this discussion link

actually, I have one of those on my 50, and it does the trick,..but i don't like the look of it, and I KNOW I won't like the look of it taking up half of my 5 gallong. :)

I think the only way to do it without a surface skimmer would be an overflow and sump. You would either have to get a HOB overflow or get the tank drilled.

Try increasing circulation in general and increasing the amount of water pouring into the tank (try a small HOB) in order to break the surface of the water.

Ive never used the surface skimmer attachment but I would think without a sump on a nano, the evapouration would cause gurgling and the eventual cessation of waterflow into the filter as the water line drops.

Most of the surface skimmer attachments I see have the intake on kind of a hinged arm. It floats and drops with the water level.

Don't worry... I couldn't figure them out either until I saw one in action.
