Hi folks,
I want to hook up a closed loop for my Remora -- both to get a somewhat beefier pump on it and remove the pump from the tank.
Some questions ...
The standard pump is a MJ 1200 (295 GPH) that, when all is said and done, pushes about 75 GPH through the skimmer. I'm thinking a Mag 5 would be a decent choice to compensate for head loss and get a bit more juice. A ball valve could get down the flow if it's too much. The pump would be about 2 feet below the top of the water. And there'd have to be a few elbows to get the water into the skimmer. Sound reasonable?
Next up ... the skimmer uses a 1/2" OD piece of hose to connect the power head to the skimmer ... with that + the Mag pump in mind, what kind / size of pipe should I use?
And, finally ... can all the plumbing supplies be found at HD or Rona?
