Hi everyone. I have another question/poll. When lighting the sump/refugium, which is better, 24/7 or reverse? My sump is a 55 gal of which 1/3 is a refugium. I'm running two 24" NO grow lamps 24/7 but I don't see much growth in my grape caulerpa or the other macro algaes that I have anchored in 4" of fine aragonite. I am however noticing great growth in cyano which blankets the substrate and everything else. I've since added a powerhead to provide more current. I always thought plant life required a rest period to rejuvenate. Any help would be appreciated.

PS. I'm hoping to pick up a digital camera today so I should have pics posted soon.

In my understanding of it is that in a 24/7 set up you will get more growth, and the calurpas are less likely to go asxeual on you.
In a reverse lighting set up you are evening out the potential swings in PH and other water parameters that occur as part of the daily cycle of the tank.

I think both systems work equally well, it al depends on what your goal is. The main reason i have my refugiums is to provide a place to promote pod growth and the pods don't really care what the set up is, just that there is nothing to eat them:D

I have pods in my sump that has no lighting on it as well as in both fuges that are on daylight cycle.
