What did you use to finish it? I REALLY like the look of it, and would like to do something similar with the stand I will build for my tank.

Is it pre-finished wood? or did you varnish it? Details on the finish appreciated (I have already seen the pics of the 4"X4"s you use to do the frame of it)! :)

Cheers,
Keith.

Keith; Just in case your interested, I had a metal stand for my new 180, made in Winnipeg. Its made from 3 inch tubular iron. Cost was $250 including painting. Will hold a house.:)

Hey Keith...

Glad you like it...now I only have to finish it and it will actually look better! :D

At this moment...it is unfinished. Only the oak sheet attached. I was hoping to complete the doors and hood and then finish all of it...but now the tanks running. So.......I dunno what I'm gonna do just yet.

So the view that you're liking is bare natural oak wood. I wanted to keep this look and not end up with a 'gloss' look, and I'm keeping my eyes open for a finish that will allow the same look.

I know that this isn't much help...sorry...

Hey Aj,a good finish to put on your stand,is a french polish.Fine furniture and cabinet makers use this method.Actually one of my fathers business is a antique resteration company and that what they use.Its a shelicac (don't mind the spelling) that they mix up.You put on thin coats with a brush, and let dry.You put about 5 coats on then, cut it down with 220 sand paper. Then you put on a few more coats and let dry. Then you cut down the final coat with 0000 steel wool.Trust me this finish is awesome. What the final cut down with the steel wool does is take out the shine.Let me know if you want more info on it?Also i could always send you up some if your interested.

SWEET...any more info you can dig-up for me would be appreciated. If you can show me a pic of the finished process...that would be great as well!

Thanks for the assistance!!! :D
