I just finished setting it all up. Been running for only an hour or so now. It's pretty cloudy still, even though I did everything I could to avoid it.
Oops, I meant to put this in the proper forum,..the showing off one,...sorry. Someone wanna move it for me?
I can't wait till it clears up,....I'll take another pic then
I have a question though,... I set this up with 3 gallons from an established 50 Gallon FOWLR, and 2 gallons new mixed water. I used silica sand, seeded with about 4-5 cups of sand from the 50 gallon. And I added about 4-6 lbs of LR from the 50 gallon.
How long till I can put a crab or a snail in here? Few days? Week? Now? :)

well if u got a test kit for nitrates just check them in a few days if it's between 10 and 30 you should be alrite to add some clean up crew.

don't think you will get any kind of cycle ( nothing dieing off)you might want to start one but I am sure other more knowledgable people will chime in here

Agree with wsg55 - but wait a week and check ammonia/nitrite/nitrate levels anyway (I use the Mardel strips on my 5g and change ~ 1 gallon per week)

looks nice.
I did the same thing this past week. started a 5g, used half my water, rock, and sand from an established tank and had my cleanup crew, and some frags in there the same day.
10 days later now and no problems except a small hair algae outbreak, that's probably due to my using tap water instead of RO/DI water.
looks great though, keep up the good work. your already half way there, look at all that corraline, that is my next goal

Thanks! I have it set up here in my office, so I get to stare at it all the time.
Alot of the coraline is actually gone,...I think the lights were too intense and possibly killed some it off? does that make sense? Anyway, some of started turning white at the edges, shrinking everyday,...but it seems to have turned around and already one rock that never had any coraline on it, has quite a bit of it starting.
Hope to get a powerhead and a clown this weekend, and I'd still like to get more frags.

Looks great - how will you top off with fresh water over the weekend?

You mean top offs if i go away for the weekend? I have always gotten someone to come in and look at them. Is there an easy way to rig up an auto top-off?

He ment every weekend when you are away from your office.. But I'm guessing you mean home-office?
Your coraline is just adapting to the new environment, it'll be fine.
Nice little tank!
