Hey fellow Nanoers,
What do you guys feed your shrooms and zoos?
I was sold this crap stuff at BAs (BlackPowder) and am not impressed with it at all.
All advice and suggestions are always appreciated.

Hi Pam,
When you come over tomorrow, I can show you how to feed the critters you're picking up.
The easiest, cheapest way I know of to feed zoanthids (polyps) is blender mush. Basically, buy some raw scallops, shrimp (peeled), and squid ... coarsely chop by hand ... pop everything into a blender ... whizz until liquified.
For a nano-sized tank, target feeding works well. I take a pipette from a test kit, chop off the end (for a bigger opening. I thaw some of the mush in a bit of tank water and swirl. Just for variety, I'll also add some Cyclop-eeze. Then ... it's feeding time! Draw up some the mush into the pipette, and gently squirt some of the food at each polyp.
The tricky part is 'shrooms. Some of them react to target feeding (generally, the hairier, the more they react, IMO) by curling themselves around the food), and some don't. The ones that don't "eat" seem to get by ... just on whatever floats by them.
The pinwheel 'shrooms I have grow crazily fast, and I've never directly fed them. Weird, that.
Good luck!

Thanks Jason :)
When I first got them they were all open and happy and now they are still open, but they are droopy looking... I've been feeding them stuff that the BAs gave me and they swear by it.. but I have found no difference at all.
I'll check out what you do on the weekend :D

You should have looked at the product reviews here on Black Powder.
Everyone I know agrees that it is a waste of $40.
Its like putting potting soil in your aquarium.

I feed the zoos brine thawed frozen brine and they always grab a few flakes tthron in for the fish. I have never fed mushrooms directly, but the I have a few different types that have grown and multiplied over the last 7 motnhs - no need to directly feed them

And how often do you guys feed the zoos?

I spot feed mine once per week, but otherwise they catch flakes dropped in for the fish (fed daily)
