It does look like a Green Carpet..

just watch your fish, other than the Clowns, As it can eat them.. As for the clown hosting..

They are very unpredictable! .. They may or may not.

Even when a tank has the natural hosting anemone for a clownfish - they don't always take to it. This is why you will spend more for a mated clown & anemone in the stores.

DO watch your other fish - as carpets are known for 'munchin' on fish at times.

In respect to the location of the anemone - you can TRY to block it in with rocks - but they will move to where they are happy regardless of what you do. You may have to aquascape around the anemone a bit - and even then - they change their mind all the time too.

Just be VERY SURE to not have any OPEN intake powerheads in the tank - or it will somehow find its way INTO the PH (Murphy's Law).

Good luck...

Hello

As for your fish hosting. could be today, six months from now or never time will tell. As for the anemone the exact genus you will need better pics Most carpets like to bury there foot in the sand or like yours is doing under a rock for security reasons This is normal. Make sure that you feed it regularly and keep your water conditions good.. If your tank has only been set-up since Dec of 2003 IMO you may have jumped the gun on this one Best of luck..

I had the same green carpet anemone with false percula, clown never showed any interest to anemone :(
The other types of clowns are certainly more anemone-friendly.

Hello

The carpet is fine for clowns. But sometimes they just don't host. Its only been a few days and it could take mouths if at all. As for your set up like I mentioned before really none at the present time, your tank in a perfect world should have been given more time to mature.

I find that A. polymnus (saddle) will instantly be drawn to haddoni anemones...even captive bred ones clowns ...I have 6 that I introduced on separate occasions and they all went into the anemones within minutes. If you don't want to take the risk of the clowns rejecting a carpet anemone (haddoni) try the saddleback clowns as its almost guaranteed ...although I guess they are overlooked as they aren't as attractive as other clowns although the black ones are nice enough looking

However, the situation was different with my BTA as it took my clowns a little while before my tomato clowns approached it at all...

When I got my carpet it came with a female saddleback. This clown was already hosting in the carpet. I went through 3 smaller saddlebacks before the female would accept a host. She killed the first clowns. Now they are a great pair that never leave the host. They feed the carpet, and protect it. I have had deep bites by the female several times for getting too close to her host. It's hit and miss. Now after all that work I've put the trio on the auction site....the carpet is just too big now at almost 10 inches. Once they are hosting, and happy I find they will spawn regularly. My Saddlebacks spawn about 4 times a year, but I've never harvested the eggs. Keep trying to get them hosting but it may never happen. :cheers2:

I have the opposite experience, 2 B&W Percs and a green Carpet Anemone and they never hosted in it. They prefer the Anthelia and the "light loving" Carpet is growing like mad and thriving in a dark corner so seems like all rules are off here.

I had a carpet anemone and ended up taking it out and giving it to a friend because my tomato clown ended up hosting my elegance! I have a picture on my previous post "My 90 to my 140". In bragging rights. For some reason it won't let me post the same pic again.

Definately a carpet. I had one for about 3 three weeks (six months ago). Ate over $100.00 worth of my prized fish and clown did not host with it. Made arrangements to return it pretty quick! When I returned it the LFS store said it looked healthier than when I purchased it. (must have been the good diet).
