Just wanted to throw up a picture of my Maroon Clown and his anemone. I really enjoy this fish, especially watching him defend his turf just after he feeds his anemone some krill.

I really wish I knew Michael. Anemone's defiantly aren't my specialty. I went against everything commonly practiced with this one and it's been very healthy and getting quite large.

Can you get a better shot of the whole anemone?
It looks like a LTA ( Long tentacle Anemone) but not sure.. I have head from a LFS that Maroons will only host to BTA's and was not sure if this was true!.

Looks like my Long Tentacle or corkscrew what ever you wish to call them. Judging from the pick and coloration.

Yes, except for the edges the tentacles are spread out. I think this one is a male because I often see what looks like faint wisps of smoke floating around in the water. I believe this is released sperm. It's grown so big that I'm hoping it will clone itself and split.

Looks somewhat like yours but of course a different color and fatter tentacles. The underside does have spots and the stalk is pink.

Yup, it is a long tentacle anemone with a very healthy coloration!

Hello
The more I look at your pics I might have to change my mind. It just may be a Entacmaea quadricolor (BTA). Do you have a pic of the column?

This is the anemone in question when it was stretching for more light when it got itself into a bad spot.

Hello
mmmmmm.. This is a interesting one. What are you running for substrate? Do you have a deep sand Bed? The LTA anemone (Macrodactyla doreensis Prefers to bury it' foot deep into the sand. Which this one by the looks of the pic is not in doing. But LTA's also have verrucae around the column near the oral disk which this one seams to have. As for it being a BTA (Entacmaea quadricolor) they prefer to bury there foot deep into a hole or crack in the rocks which this one seams to be doing, but they don't have, at least not that I'm aware of have, verrucae around the column near the oral disc. I'm just wondering if it is a LTA and your sand bed is not deep enough for it or not enough lighting so it has to leave the bed and get higher in the tank for more light.
Just some thoughts

Thanks for the help Stan. Just took this picture, lights aren't on yet. I only have 1" of sand/CC so the anemone can't bury it's base. It has stayed in the same place now for 3 months with it's base under a rock(see picture) on the bottom of the tank. It appears to be very healthy and happy with just minimal PC lighting on the FOWLR tank.

Looks identical to mine. I'd say LTA.
