SO I just picked up some acrylic on sale (could rtn if nec). It's going to be used to make an overflow on a 75g. The acrylic is 3/16. Is that too thin?
What is the recommended thickness? It'll be running straight down from a corner and a 45 degree. Tank drilled on bottom corner.
Any help appreciated.

how wide and how high will the piece of acrylic be when it is cut to suit?

Most likely around 8 wide and 17 high. Exact measurements haven't been calculated yet. It's for a 75g 18 wide 10 high and 1 1/4 drain in corner.

sounds as if 3/16 is enough, but why risk it, better to use 1/4.
1/4 will have a little more strength, especially if you plan on cutting teeth in the top.
hope this helps

I would suggest at least 3/8 thickness. However if you insist on using what you have, the higher the water level in the overflow box, the less presure on it. Use a standpipe to bring the water level up in the box.
Remember to fill the overflow with water before you fill the tank!
