OK, I have done research on gonipora. I know it is unlikely to survive in smaller reef tanks for very long. I myself do not believe they should be kept in small reef tanks at all. I have found this out only after a visit to a LFS who let me take home an easy to care for coral, or so I was told... called green flowerpot(goniopora)I got it for a cheap price and everything. Anyways, my question is-- Is there anywhere in toronto region or anybody in toronto region that I can take this coral to who has better knowledge than I do abouit this "goniopora" to try and solve the unknown about how to keep it or why it dies. It seems pretty healthy right now so if there is any takers on this I will drive it out to you.......

not that this is a mile stone by anymeans, but i managed to keep one for just about 2 years in a 29 gallon under normal florescents (80 watts), 2 inch cc substrate, 40 lbs or so live rock, and no skimmer. I got it from a death tank (almost dead) it came around and did ok for awhile then i made the mistake of moving it.. never was the same.. I think the big thing with them is that they like "dirty" unskimmed water.
I'd be willing to give it a try, but i don't think that i, or most likely anyone, could do anybetter for it than you will be able to yourself

Stephane's results are typical So was mine.
