Aptasia + Vinegar = Pissed off Brain Coral

Hi guys,

I injected an aptasia with Vinegar about 15 minutes ago and now my Brain coral has completely pulled itself in. The Galaxy coral has "half" pulled itself in but that might be from something else.
The Hammers, Green Star Polyps, Candy cane, Sun Polyps and zoo as well as the fish all seem ok.

Any thoughts?

I just checked the PH and it's at a perfect 8.2

they might have came in contact with the Viniger.i mean the water is 8.2 ph.. but the Viniger is what? around 20?? so they might have been slightly pissed from it.

Yep. For real.

It looks like I'm ok. Everything seems fine now but I guess that's what happened... There is a plate coral between the Candycane and the brain that would have come in contact with at least as much as the brain but it didn't react. The brain must be more sensitive.

If you used a ton of vinegar you may have dropped your PH fast.

agreed... too much vinegar may have created a little spot where the pH is lower.. but soon enough the current in your tank will take care of that. I wouldn't worry about it.


just a side note: pH ranges from 0 to 14 and acids are all below 7... vinegar would probably be a 5 or 6 on that scale.. not a 20
