hey guy i found a crab in my tank the other day must have been hitchiiking, im not sure what kind it is its about the size of a nickel, looks like an emerald crab but he is orange in color. I cant get a pic of him cuz he is very quick and always hiding. I was just wonderin what kind of crab he is and also if he is good or bad and will he harm my corals?

It could be a Red Mithrax crab. Same species as an Emerald Crab only red / orange in colour. So, it could be assumed as fairly reef safe. Safe for your corals but potential is there for injury to smaller livestock. Just guessing without a pic. though.

As mentioned many times throughout the Identify Me forum... Crabs will generally hitch hike along with their food source. I always assume that the crab is a bad guy until I can find proof otherwise.

Look at his claws if you can find him again. Pointy, sharp claws generally indicate he's a predator. (also if he can phase out and go invisible, probably a Predator)

Rounded & flat tipped claws are suitable for algae farming.
