Scroll down this thread a bit and there is a better photo of the orange cap.

I fragged a chunk out the side for commie but it's also grown a bit since that last photo.
Ideally I'd like it to stick out horizontally (like I did have it once) but I don't have the room. Is kindoff neat growing up the glass.
On another note I really don't like the blue background, the guy I bought it from previously painted it and it doesn't come off easy. Any ideas on how to remove stubborn paint on a functioning tank, i.e. no harsh chemical. A scrapper is proving to be quite difficult. I'm also considering attaching a few bubble mushroom and green star polyps along the glass to cover the whole back eventually but these might end up becoming a pain as they grow fast...?

Thanks for the pic. If you get good coraline growth you won't have to worry about what colour the back is..... it'll be purple soon enough. On the other post you had a problem with one of Vekiw's bulbs. Did you ever find out what happened?

Hey Fishlips! your tank photos are great. But it looks better in life!
When I was over last your tanks looked great! I finally got my refugiums together. The methylene cloride I got from you was to old. I tried to bond the acrylic but it was just like water. I got ahold of IPS weld-on 3 & it worked like a charm. I spoke to a few people about the shelf life but they said that as long as it liquid it should work. Thanks for your help. Shanleigh is starting her sea-horse tank 20g with 30lbs of live rock. We are going to cycle the tank. She is wondering if we will need to protect the sea-horses from the heater? I put a wet/dry filter on the tank,LR , & black mollies to cycle the tank.
Thanks Trigger :thanks:

Kent- Venki still hasn't tested my bulb. Granted it's the hollidays so I'll give him some leeway :) Nevertheless the ballast fires up my iwasaki well so that leaves the bulb... I've also tried different sockets so it's not a connection issue. I'm probably going to pick up a 14K bulb to test as well, that is if he exchanges the old bulb.
Hi Keith- Metal halides... On the right I have a 175W ushio and the left a 250W iwasaki but originally had a 250W 10K sunaquatics bulb of which I'm refering to above. I'll probably just have two 250W eventually.
Trigger- The stuff just evaporates, and doesn't go bad. Did it not smell strong? Perhaps because I left the container outside water got in there but I'd be supprised if that was the case. Did you try to dissolve some acrylic in it, it would take some time but should work better if you thickened it up a bit. About the sea horses, I never used a heater in my tank but I would think they would let go if it heated up. The only problem would be if they got stuck behind it so make sure that can't happen.

Fishlips, I did try just about everything. Acrylics are different & do require different chemicals for bonding, Your right in saying that it should dissolve the acrylic. I will take your advice & protect the seahorse from the heater.
Thanks Trigger! :thanks:

I also agree that the tank looks great in person! PIcs...as nice
as they are do not do it justice..>The aquascaping is as
perfect as I have seen in a tank that size ANYWHERE!
The contents are impecable!
Nice work Fishlips!
I just bought the same size tank as ANOTHER REEF to set up!
Always wanted a bow front also....

Thanks guys.
I've always liked bowfronts. Had a 20G, 46G, now my 72G. AJ warned me that he's heard of some larger ones (starting at 90G) just breaking. Scary thought.
Looking for a small used one for the office :)
The new wave tanks are catching my eye now. Might be annoying to look at tho? Haven't seen one with water in it yet.

Looks like a good start. I've only got a HOB skimmer and recently added a kalkwasser reactor to the back.
I wonder if a bowfront would look good built into a wall

thanks. i think it would look really cool, because of the way it would bow out of the wall, sort of like a bayfront window.
