Is this a Monti plate?
Need to know for care. currently very high light (2" from top, aprox 10" from light) & current. The coral is staring to get brown algae, see pic 03 top center.
Thanks

If this is the coral Im thinking of it was very light in colour (almost white) when I saw it. Are these photos from a while ago?
Either case the part with algae on it looks like it is being blasted with flow. This coral will surely like less flow and probably less light.
Definately a montipora.

Darryl, it is the one you saw, I believe our trade included a frags?. It is an older picture. I used this since this camera pic is sharper than my current iPhone pics. Colour is more brownish by eye. Also the brown algae is now 2" by 2" spot in the midle. Thanks for info, will try to move it to lower light & current. Do you know species?
Thanks!

Frag it off, montis are quite hardy. It should grow back in no time :0

No I didnt get a frag of that. Although if it turns out purple with green polyps...maybe I should have ...lol. That would be pretty rare.
Its definately a plating monti. Probably capricornis or florida. There are quite a few plating montipora species....mostly when people see a plating monti they automatically think capricornis, but that is not always the case.

Here is a phone picture I took today. You can see colours much more faded & the brown algae in the middle.

You are correct. These tinny frags on 7/8" plugs were accidentlly chipped off the main colony. The one on the left has already started to encrust the plug. Apologies for crappy photo. Done with cell phone across the entire width of the tank. Plus, I cropped out a very small portion of the original image.

I wish I were closer to you cause i would love that monti frag! I'm really starting to like monti's. They grow fast, have incredible colours and pretty easy to care for!
Your pic actually looks like it's bleaching. Have you recently changed your lights?
I find monti's prefer lower light. I have a Superman monti up high and it has great colour, but I wonder if I move it down a bit a see what happens. I know most say high light for there guys.

No, but the frags are 1" from the top of the water, see yellow box. I could be burning them. I will try some lower & compare colour & growth rate.
Thanks for advice,

Definitely WAY too high.
Give them at the very least 6" of water above them. Considering that T5HO's can easily sustain SPS at >20" depths - 1" will definitely burn them.
