found this little sucker on my glass when i got home from work, cant find anything on it. Thought it might be a monti eating nuti as my purple haze is on its way out (like stn in spots)although my digis are all doing great.

size reference- its in a gatorade cap, about 9mm in length id say.

any ideas?

thanks

scott

Maybe Hermissenda? or flabellina species???

I like IDing but I can't find perfect match... :-(

looks like a zoa-eating nudi more than a monti eating one, imo

in any case, kill it...and get ready to go over your tank with a fine-tooth comb; there will be more, almost guaranteed.

EDIT: note the green hue on the nudi....zoa eating ones WILL change their colour to match the color of the zoa they're preying on (do monti-eating nudis do the same??? no clue....)

Hermissenda? or flabellina > I think your on the right track with the general appearance of these species.

Its Much different in appearance than a lettuce nuti.

I've been keeping my eyes open at night for anything that shouldnt be (mainly at my monti) But come to think of it I have a 20 head zoa col thats green and yellow, Its been closed the last day.

Figured it was the algae growing next to it (which i also need an id on)

Thanks so far guys.

...that, there, is your answer...

take the zoa rock out (all zoa rocks if you have more) and dunk in freshwater...then treat in a hydrogren peroxide/water mix (see my zoanthid care thread in the zoa forum)......then break out the tweezers and look for the tight coils of eggs...remove all of them......repeat in a few days..

g'luck

patwa- i think you nailed it right on the head....... unfortunetly:(

looking at the tank today to find a good dozen on various zoas. The ones ive found do bear the same colours as the zoas their on, only difference is these suckers are 1/5th the size.

how long do i have before they consume everything? got lots of zoas

they're easy to deal with...

the live ones can be dealt with by using the freshwater dip method. The freshwater will kill them and they'll fall off within seconds (shake the rock vigorously). However, the egg sacks can only be removed manually, with tweezers.

treat every single zoa rock, even if you didn't see any nudis on it (make sure polyps are closed before the freshwater dip!!!).....and then repeat 2 or 3 times over the next week or two.
