Nice! I like the curved stand in-wall installation. Who did that for you?
What's with the multiple sumps?
Concept

Hi All
the (1) first is a frag tank, one more coming tomorrow, (2) top left is where most water drains from the main tank and will house skimmers, then overflow to(3) refugium, finally to the (4)output sump where water is returned, some is sent to the filter station and back to the lasts sump after treatment.
I am pondering a DSB but have reservations and with this scenario I can chop and change as I wish...
anyone see a problem?
Paul
Sorry I missed a post
I did the wall myself with a little help of a cnc router, I will do the same with the Surfline after it is installed.

WELL I KNOW THIS IS GOING TO STIR UP CRAP!!!
But hey...I dont care anymore.
You really do not need a bed any thicker than 2" according to the latest Marine annual.
The article states that the denitrification occurs in the top 2" and anything deeper is not needed

Dont stir up nothing... there wont be any sand in this setup, as soon as I get a chance the coralife is out of here, I can grow green star pollys on the bottom and start a golf course.

It's a little too aggressive for me, I should take a couple more pics, the web pics are a little old it has spread somewhat.when I say somewhat I mean I have a Tang looking for a 5 iron.
one of the reasons for all the sumps was to give me as many options as I needed, this seemed to fit the bill, plus I want to get more involved with R&D in water movement, I have spent the year working on multiple motorised ball valve set ups and oscilating outlets and would like to see what I can do with some surge devices....now I have places to play!!

Paul verrrry nice.... I had a bar built one time in the exact half moon shape out of solid mahogany custom built. The tank in
it was only a 100 gallon flat faced though...with the bow you have
it looks even better! My 100 gallon was recessed giving about a
6inch ledge that the kids would sit on as babies...good memories.
ANyways...verrrry nice job...I love that tank!
hOW far north of Toronto are you?

Man that is an awesome system! Congrats!
Much to high tech for me hehehe but...I wish I could do
plumbing and stuff like that....pretty cool yes indeed....
Someday I will have enough cash to PAY SOMEONE like you
do simply set it up and I will turn the valves after they explain
what everything does hehehehe
Verrrrrrry nice job...I am blown away by that set up....
incredible.

Paul can not be influenced by cash. You need single malt scotch to get him to jump.... Right Paul?
Concept
January 27th, 2004, 10:15 AM
eerrrm I have actually been persuaded by the odd molson dry, scotch isn't on my flavour of the month list.
It may seem complicated but it isn't, and there were a couple of minor hiccups in the way that things drained. I learned a lot about the diff between gravity and syphoning, and believe me there is a difference, if you play long enough you can actually get an outlet to become a wave making device, although it could take a few beers.

Paul,
I love the way you dressed up your bowfront. I think I'm going to do the same on my home 77gallon bowfront tank after seeing yours. I'm going to build a fishroom behind it with a sump, refugium, frag tank, and algae farm.
Workn' out the details!
Thanks for the ideas!

Hi Tom
check out what is favourably known as wiggly wood, you can turn it round any sort of corner, it brings everthing together, I will be using quite a lot of it on the new tank I am planning, the 2 tanks will be in one big multicurved wall to match the curvature of the tanks, both the existing bow and the new surfline custom.
now theres a thought...an algae farm...have to find space for one of those, how high do the fences have to be to stop them escaping?

Paul,
Just wondering if and what kind of Dehumidifier you are running in your house for that system.?
Concept
January 27th, 2004, 03:38 PM
actually don't need one, this house can use 16 gallons of water a day if I had a humidifier, so I just turned it off!
