I suppose it seemed like an odd question, but I have some base rock that looks a lot like Marshall Islands. The problem is that I was told that it was from the Florida Keys. I wanted to make that comparison. :thanks:

th e florida and fiji i have is almost identical, ive had marshall rock but didnt even know they shipped base out of there.you dont see much base rock at all anymore as shipping aco****s for the price of any rock, from collector to wholesale its almost cheaper to sell premium over base.Flavio

Define Base Rock?

Thomas, base rock is basically same as Premium rock except not much life on it and not encrusted with coraline algae, but in time it will seed itself from a good quality rock from your tank and coraline will be covered within 3-6 months...

Base rock is usually more dense (heavier) then Premium Rock.
Is this the case with yours Flavio?
Regular prices I've seen is 2.50$ to 3$
Also it's dry and quite dead.

The Base Rock at BigAl's in Kitchener is $2.50/lb but I wouldn't be able to tell you how it compares to what Tom and Flav have.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if ORG's stuff was of better quality.

Big Als sells the Caribsea rock.. from what i have seen much more dense and really easly chipped and broken.

That CaribSea stuff is prety nice. The "ReefRock" We just got a 50lb box at our store and it was roughly 18x18x12. It was rather small rocks though mostly between 3"-8" good for a nano but i wouldn't use them for a 55gal or anything.
Just my 2 cents
P.S. Does Big Gay Al carry livestock?

Deadstock! Hahaha. I went over to my DFS and saw a couple of dead candy cane corals and a half dead porcupine puffer. They had a REALLY nice, ALMOST LIVE Sohal tang... LOL
