Like most on here I have dove into Sketchup and can't figure out some of the basic tricks. I'm an advanced user of ACAD and I'm finding that knowing tricks in ACAD are not helping with Sketchup, so I would like to ask some of you Sketchup users for some tricks.

This maybe a good thread for helping all Novice users like me to get our tank designs just right with out pulling our hair out,:hihi: I have Googled for help on this but just can't find what I'm looking for.

So Here is question one:
To create teeth in the over flow box, what I would do in ACAD is draw one tooth and then select that tooth then using the "copy with insert point" feature so I can just paste the tooth using an offset. I can't find anyway of selecting a insert point, as well when you select the geometry and copy it, when you paste it the paste point is random. To help understand see below. In the picture I have selected the geometry and would like to select a paste point, then would like to paste the geometry from the last tooth at a fixed offset.

Once you paste, you can then select the "lines" of the pasted item, and then move them all together. You need to make sure you have all the lines selected.

If you go through all the video tutorials (sketchup home page) you should find one that shows you how to do it.

I finally found a way of doing it, thanks for the "go to the home page tutorials". I found you can create a "component" (in ACAD they call them blocks) then set the insert point so you can just drag the "component" in to the drawing and paste it using a fixed point. I could not handle selecting and moving 100 teeth :hihi:

Will it install and then not run? If it will not install are you using a "Admin" account?
Sorry and happy to say I don't have this problem, I'm still running XP and proud of it!:pompom:
