Can anyone here tell me if 5 min epoxy, when cured, is considered safe for marine water contact use? I need to do a small repair to my protein skimmer.

I have repaired my Skimmer using a super epoxy!
Fish are fine! Just make sure its cured before you use it.
Should't be a problem.

Tigger ... :thanks: for the response. How long ago did you do this repair?

About 2 Months, I added some additional plexiglass the the construction to assst it with some additional suport! I epoxyed the main feed pipe & placed additional support to the throat of the return. Its bullet proof now. At first I didn't know what epoxy to use because some of the materials don't bond well unless you use the correct epoxy. I just tried the super epoxy because I had nothing to loose. It now works better than new & has a greater support. I'm going to add additional to support to my other skimmers. They are both your 24" Saline Solutions Skimmers.

That's good to know tigger. I need to re-attach my input pipe on my skimmer and K-Lux will not work in this case.
thanks again

Are you bonding Acrylic? Perhaps you can use Weldon 4 or 16?

Yes it is some sort of plastic but it is not a zero tolerance fit so I don’t think Weldon will work. I am guessing that Weldon works the same as K-Lux witch is used to bond plxi-glass?
Thanks

Weldon 4 is watery so you'd need a very low tolerance fit.
Weldon 16 is more like model glue so it can fill crevices, etc.
I guess it depends on how exactly your protein skimmer is broken. Got any pics?

Sounds like Weldon 4 is simalar to K-lux. However if the Weldon 16 is more like model glue it will do the job for me. The skimmers input tube has come loose from its saddle which formed into the upper outide of the skimmer.
Thanks EH

I'm not sure where to find Weldon 16 in the Nepean area but pretty much any plastics fabrication place will have it. I know there is an Acrylic guy out that way that sells a lot of stuff (overflows, sumps, etc.) on eBay so if you find him you can probably ask nicely for a smidgen of Weldon16 to fix your skimmer.
