Has anyone attemped to make thier own Rock?
My wife, kids and I had some fun today..... What a mess....
Ended up with about 80lbs of rocks.
Portland type II/III cement & crushed oyster shell. Didnt take much time at all and works out to be around .10 cents a lb. Now the 2 months curing time thats another story.... to be continued......

Well i made about 75 lbs of rock, and man it was fun. I had it outside for the 5 weeks and changes the water after the 1ST week and keep changing it every other 3-4 days and had lots of current in the tub.
I put it in to the SW tank with nothing in it the 1ST 5-10 lbs i add ed left it for 1week and then added the rest mine you i have a 280 gal tank.
So i dont think it made a big difference.
Any way i had not problems and now after 5 months in my tank and then going into another tank of DOUG LOWEY for another 1 month .its lookign great the coraline on it is awesome wil get some pictures in the next couple day to show ya..

Thanks for the replies. Pics would be great. We are going to cure ours in the laundy tub with a bubble wand in the bottom. Figure I can get 80+ in there with ease. and pull the plug when its water change time.
