Welp after 3 or so years I've upgraded my 65g to a 120 (thanks Paul & Ming for the help - and John for the tank). The 65 was starting to show alot of wear an tear (scratches missing silicon etc).

65g
33g sump/refug.
prizm skimmer -> later a DYI becket
400w 6500k
NO actinics -> later overdriven 4xNOs on icecap 660
kalk->b-ionic->kalk

120g
400w 6500k on left
400w 20000k radiums on right
overdriven NOs on 660
DYI becket
fed on Kalk.

In the begining....

Wow. The tank was incredible. What happened at 2 1/2 years to cause the disaster? Was it the power outage or ??? I can't imagine losing all that. I feel sorry for you. YIKES!!!

You are welcome, Kham.
I hope the bigger tank can bring you better luck this time.
Nice tank by the way.

Can't really narrow down what happened to the tank around 2yrs or so; everything was fine. water params were *perfect*.
But I did make quite a bit of changes.

1. changed from isakis to radiums
2. flatworms
3. dosed 4x green-x to kill flatworms (1x was not doing anything to them :)
4. changed my NO's
5. could be the IO salt also since I went to a new bucket of kent after and thing seemed to have recovered.

The poweroutage only made things worst; lost a marine betta and my shrimps..

ah well.. it's all a learning experience....

I know how you feel regarding the wipe out, I lost about 18 species of SPS to RTN in about 8 days and 5 clams.

Hey Kham,

Too bad about the tank crash....It was looking so good.
By the way, the many sps frags that I got off you are doing quite well and growing significantly and should be ready for fragging soon. I will be glad to return some back to your tank. thats why frag trading is so good.....if the tank crashes....there are frags elsewhere to reestablish. :)

Also, I always wanted to ask you where you got your little plastic holder that you used for your frags in one of the pictures?

I don't know what would be worst losing everything in 8 days or lose most things over a span of a few months - take it all at once or spread the pain over time ahahha..

Thanks alan; fragging is like backup; just one of those things you gota do to survive when there is a wipe out.

As for the plastic holder thing, I made that out of some spare acrylic I had. If you want it its yours since I have no use for it right now. Tired making one out of those egg crate things and it was a PITA to keep it rigid.

Finished my canopy (just gota put the ends on it), Reflector is from mitchell, very easy to work with; and quite reflective. I've had to reduce the # of hours the Halides are on.

Had some new additions to the 120g, mostly fish, since I'm trying to take it slow with the corals.
