Ok, you guys that have made your own sump, I have a question.

Rather than build a complete acrylic sump I am thinking of just buying a glass aquarium and adding baffles. The baffles will be acrylic and I was of course wondering the best way of glueing them to the glass. In the past I have tried silicone but it just doesn't hold well if there is any real flow, other than siliconing stop blocks for each baffle. Any experience or ideas??

Why not just use glass instead ? It will cost so much less and is so much easier to cut

I bought a Diamond tipped pen for like $10 and a sheet of glass for about the same Plus $3 of silicone

Maybe I did something wrong but when I tried to get a piece of Plexiglass at RONA it was like $50 alone

'tis true! Glass is MUCH cheaper than acrylic.

Here's a little tip on cutting glass. Keep your cutting wheel well lubricated while cutting. Dip in either mineral oil or vegetable oil for each cut. If you don't you could end up dulling the cutter and making a mess of your cuts. Been there done that...lol.
