Well I was over at Tom's(Oakville Reef) tonight to give him a hand and shoot some pics.

Alot of progress has been made on the tank and his skimmer is now running.

i dont think tom will mind if i answer some of the questions as he doesnt get on the boards as often,the tank will be a 2 sided tank,the roon will be finished from the front of the tank and the back therefore leaving the tank viewable from 2 sides,the tank was biult by johnny from n.a.he doesnt do many on site tanks any more because of the amount of labour but made an exception.the skimmer is a 12 inch diameter hsa 3000 duall becket commercial.these are the ones used in public aquaria,bellagio hotel in las vegas etc,the circualtion consists of one closed loop with 4 outputs fed by a pcx 100 on a hayward actuator since they are half the price of spears.the unit to power this is custom made.present lighting is 250w hqi pendants,(there are 4 on it now)and furthee lighting will be 400 iwasaki.even for the size and equip this tank will consume about 10 or 12 amps which is not alot for this size.tank itself is 3/4 inch glass with euro brace,custom overflow system to drain into the massive sump refugium.the circulation in there now is extreme so it wont need any power heads which was the plan in designing the closed loop,2 sea swirl system.calciun will be provided by mtc pro cal which should do the tank if not another will be added.the process you see here has taken 6 weeks to accomplish,the tank will be stocked with s.p.s. and clams,more follow up pics to follow.im sure once complete and cycled there will be a tank day at toms house for anyone to see.

I was over at Toms last night for another photo shoot. We are doing a series of photographs to document the progress of the tank.

I will be doing a seperate website for Toms tank in the very near future. For now though...here are a couple of pics.

I am going to hold off on the majority of pictures, including the control room until the dedicated webpage is up.

Beleive me, no expense was spared...it WILL BE worth the wait.

ill speak for tom as hes not on the board often,but i did speak to him and there will be pics in the next week or two as the basement is almost complete.stay tuned as i was there last week and this is the most awesome setup ive ever seen,incredible as i havent been to his place in about a year.this will be in a couple of books as i understand.now i know what he was doing going home early and all,hmmmm,fancy bulbs not to be found,
