I would also like to know what exactly constitutes an Ultra grade clam? Thanks.

Grading is a marketing tool that is used when selling clams...the more vibrant the color and pattern, the more it costs.
ie.
Maximas are graded as Ultra, Teardrop, Gold and 1st grade. 1st grade being the least expensive.
Croceas are graded as Electric (or Super) and 1st grade. Electric or Super being more expensive.
Etc...

just know that there is no 'governing body' of 'clam grading'. The seller can call it whatever they want, it's up to the buyer to determine if it's worth the price or not. Also, ultra grade is nice and everything, but you really gotta see the superdiculous grade, they're super ridiculous.

I wont settle for anything but the superdiculous grade.
