Hello all,

the LFS I frequent has a large school of these anthias. The shipment statement labeled them as Pseudanthias squamipinnis but they clearly aren't. They arrived from an Indonesian shipment and the best I can narrow them down to is that they are Pseudanthias hutchii - it fits the range, however the colours are not the best match. The most prominent male does have the correct markings, especially the red-orange trim on the pelvic fins. Most descriptions and pictures show a fish with an overall olive colour, while these are a lemon yellow washing to cream-grey. The eye stripe is clearly orange, while again pictures show a red one. I'm sure shipping stress has altered the colours too.

I've included a few pictures taken with my cell phone - my apology on the quality.

I'm fairly certain on the id, just need a second opinion. I know there are a few anthias specialists out there and would appreciate their input.

Your probably right with guessing hutchii anthias, but pics of better conditioned individuals are needed. Beautiful fish regardless!!!

from the stress of being captured and shipping in the dark their colours would be severely muted. maybe I'm just stating the obvious here but it might help in IDing this beauty

Looks like Huchti to me especially with the stripe extending from the eye into the pectoral fin.

Colours (for a photo with flash) look pretty normal.

Male Hutchi Anthias are green with a red line on their cheek and are greenish-yellow overall with red margins on the fins. Females are yellowish-orange or greenish orange with orange stripes on their cheeks.
