Well set her up a week ago.. with the live rock, sand and water from my tank.. :) did not even cycle.. added a couple of fish today.. take a look!

Well here is the main shot of the tank, as you can see the light difference.. you will see soon why.. :)

another piece of the live rock ( 8 Pound piece) and the Clown! again this tank was setup using 3 year old rock, sand and the water from my main tank!

And then the lights.. I'm using a 6 year old canopy on this.. it has the old condescend lamps.. So i did not have enough for both bulbs but i did get one if the coralife Condescend Compacts 50/50 bulbs... they are only 10 watts but say they put out the power of a 50 watt condescend bulb.. so i got one and then grabbed a blue condescend and hate it! .. so i will be replacing with with another coralife bulb!

Oh they are $20 for a 10 watt 50/50 bulb that just screws into a standard light socket.. puts out they say the power of a 50 watt light!

What are you gunna do with the other 140 gallons of tank you have left? ;)

That 10W screw-in is equal to 10 watts of aquarium light unfortunately. It's only equal to 50 watts of incandescant bulbs cecause they are so innefficient.

OH i konw.. lol..

But i mean the canopy use to have just the 10 watt Incandescant lamps before!.. lol so now im going ot be running 100 watts of Incandescants instead of the old 20 watts.. lol

I really do like the look.. and really think that 20 watts of these little compacts would be more than enough for mushrooms and Zoos!

I have seen those screw in 10 watt bulbs...pretty neat!
you should be fine with 2 watts per gallon as the tank
is not deep....

Should be excellent and low heat and low COST!!! SUPER!
Congrats!

What kind of filter are you using?
do you need a powerhead for the 10?

im running a Aquaclear Mini for the water flow, So i do not need a powerhead, also running the Aquaclear Empty, as i do have the sand and live rock in there! there is about 8 pounds of live rock in there from my older tank ( 3 years old) it also get 2 liter water changes every 3 days :)

When are you support to check the water (ammonia, ph, right level or salt etc)?
check it daily? weekly?

Depends on the tank, and what is in the tank! .. ideally you want to do the water changes to prevent the water from building up anything Wrong like Nitrates, ammonias! .. i test them every 2 weeks just incase to keep an eye on them.. but you learn how tank works and then you can decide what kind of maintaince it needs :)

like the Nano i do water changes ever 3 days.. just becouse it is smaller.. and i do have 2 fish in there.. but then you look at my 30G with the 33G refugium.. i do water changes every couple of months of about %10

So ideally for a new tank.. you want to test the water every week untill the cycle is over.. once the cycle is over you add your fish slowly till you get what you want and test every couple of days to keep an eye on it.. then you start to learn.. that say your tank goes 2 weeks before starting to get traces of Nitrates so then you know you will need to do water changes either larger ones every 2 weeks.. or smaller ones weekly, Witch is what most do .

Mike, you still might need a small powerhead in there bud...
I use a small maxi 400 I think it is in my 10 gallon nano
along with the mini filter also...

And...with the above sometimes I wish I had just a TAD more
flow....but it is adequate with above I suppose..

Just something to consider.
