View Full Version : Summer BBQ

Dewey

I've talked with Mike and offered my place up for the summer BBQ. Not sure what the reaction will be to everyone having to come out to Thamesford, so I thought I'd get it going now. I'm thinking July 12th or 19th. I can't leave it later then that as we are expecting a new addition to the family in early August. Thats right...I'm going to be a Grandpa. Hard to realize someone so young looking could have grandkids isn't it? :bwink:
I have some suggestions for a little project that day too, but I don't want to get in the way of the May meeting.
If someone could suggest a place for the next meeting, I'd be able to gauge reaction to everyone coming out here to the boonies.
Any offers?
Thanks,
Glen (Dewey)

I have no objections to having it out there. We can all carpool and have a big ol' bar-b-q!

Heck...if you city slickers behave... we might even have some cow-tipping. Depends if I can round up enough of us hicks. Guess where we get our steaks.
By the way Gary....what's a water change?
Aren't these critters supposed to be swimmin in mud?:bwink:
Don't forget....we need a volunteer for May's meeting.

Geez I don't no Glen that seems to be a long way to go to see a water change LOL...Not sure if us city slickers can handle that good clean "cough cough"country air out there in the big metropolis of Thamesford..Well I will have to chance it for a chance to eat, drink and watch a good ol fashion H2O Change

Ok..one vote for July 12th. I'm good for either.
I would have thought Gary and Dave would have realized the benefits of water changes by now...but hey...who I am I to judge. :bwink:
Must be something in the water here. You guys are welcome to share.
I can also introduce you guys to a thing called a S.k.i.m.m.e.r.
They are really good for your aquarium too.
Glad to be of service.

If you want us to pick between the 2 dates then I think I will place the 2nd vote for the 12th.
It would be the better date for me. I'm going camping later in July so the 19th could put me out.

I figure I better get my name out here first. I would really like to come to at least the BBQ. It should be a good time.

Jenn sorry I have the day booked off your going to have to work :P

btw the 12th should be fine for me

Starting to sound like the July 12 date is off to an early lead (I'll throw my vote in for that day as well since, well I believe the rotation makes me have to work the 19th and it just wouldn't be a party without me). :D

Once a consensus is reached I will update the MACL website with the information to give people plenty of time to make arrangements. Earlier we agree on a date the better!

As of right now, the 12 or the 19 would work for me. The 12th sounds like a good time. I will be heading up North in the last week of July though, so no later than the 19 :)

Heck, I spell a LOT more years than that in school, and I still never learned anything!

I prefer the 12th, but either will work for me.

I should have my tank back up and running by then.... and I will definatly be looking to start stocking it at this time if all goes well.... bring on the frags.

I agree, with us all at the bbq.... the s.w section will likely be pretty dead in the store. You should both come :)

So is it safe to conclude that the 12th of July is the date? Appears that is far and away the lead.

I have messaged Glen to see about placing directions for the barbecue etc... on the MACL website (http://www.maclondon.org) for everyone to have access too. If he is comfortable with that being placed there it will be updated very soon.

Why don't you make a downloadable and printable pdf of the meeting specs with a picture of a map? This way when web crawlers come by his address and contact info isn't forever on the web.

Get out of my head! It's scary in here... you might not like it ;)

That was the plan :D

If anyone can't find it (now that would be truly sad), just ask any of the locals where to locate the fish fry. :bwink:
And everyone has to find out the meaning of "Calithumpian" by the date of the meeting.

Ok bit of a revival here!

I hope I win the award for travelling the most distance to get there because I am coming! My luck though someone is going to beat me out for it ;)

Now that May has come and gone what is the project or is it still top secret?

Also who is bringing what for frags? Should I even start another thread to ask that question before I say what I can bring?

Also what's on the Menu??

That's enough questions out of me I think.

Calithumpian is a noisy boisterous band or parade, and disturber of order at elections in the 18th century.

Apparently Gary wins the prize for defining Calithumpian. Yes it was on the long weekend. Thamesford pretty much rolls up the streets at about 8:00 p.m. every evening except for Cali. Then there is a party at every other house, arena, hotel, Legion, etc.
Gary...what can I say. You get the free instruction on how to do a water change. I'm sure you've never done one before. If you are real good, we'll let you participate in the fish food recipe. Maybe call it "Gary's Goodies". Could be our shot at a million.
