I don't thing you would get too much of a sp[ike.. ussually a spike will occur when you add fish, more so than when you add corals. If any of the corals seem to have die off, then you might get a spike from that.

A "spike" is caused by organics decaying, causing the creation of ammonia. Any live animal can die (or produce waste), and thus start to decay. While corals are considered live animals, they shouldn't produce any measurable levels of ammonia, even if they were to die off.
The only thing you should worry about is the addition of fish and inverts, as they will begin to introduce wastes which will cause ammonia to build. Unless your tank is not already cycled, you are not really adding that much bio-load with your new additions.
How big is your tank? Remember, dillution is the key. The larger your tank, the less the effect of any potential spike.
I would think you'll be just fine, and any spike you have will be quickly corrected by the established biological filtration of your live rock and sand.
Now if you said you were adding 5 large fish, several shrimp and a cleanup crew to a 33gal tank, I'd be worried! :eek2:

Hi,
The 20 ppm NO3 is the only thing I'd be concerned with. The inverts may not appreciate it considering the "zero" they usually have.
