I have seen people with pleco's in with there piranhas, However they were both introduced at a small size and grew together... I had a piranha for 14 yrs. it ate everything including the other 5 ... :)
It usually did not bother with the small snails in the tank.
Good luck

snails are some of the easiest things to keep in aquariums ... just make sure there's some algae for them and you'll find they'll do great ... maybe even too great (depending on the breed of snail you go with) ... some have been known to overbreed and crowd the tank ... i know that's the way it is with the smaller breeds, not to sure about the large ones tho. :)
all in all, you really don't have to do much with snails ... just put 'em in, make sure you feed algae wafers if u don't have substantial algae growth and watch them grow :)

Mine just came in on live plants... U got to watch the snails lived however he just tore apart the plants and they did not do well.. and as for the glass cleaning / planting stick ( because best not to put ur hands in) Mine has teeth marks in it!!!! :)
Hope this helps...
