After reading countless threads, looking through many books and driving myself crazy, I have given up trying to properly identify an algae I cant seem to get rid of. Each time I think i have found the answer, my specimen doesnt seem to fit the profile quite right.

My problem started with hair algae, which I have defeated. Now, I have this type of algae growing which looks like it is dead, kind of.

My RO/DI is showing T.D.S. less then 10.

As of late my phosphate levels are showing at 0.1 , using a month old Red Sea test kit, which uses Sulphuric acid and Glycerol to get a result.

I have the phosguard running inside on of my powerhead attachments, setup so the water has to push draw through it well.

Does anyone know exactly what type of algae this is?

Thanx for the input. Maybe I need to get a phosban reactor.......

that looks diatom to me...
ur ro/di water shouldnt be 10ppm...it should be 0ppm(1-2 ppm means needs to be changed asap)
ur water might be the source as there might be silica oing in ur tank.
reduce nutrients in the tank as well and see if that will solve ur problem
