Have been looking around for CARE information on this coral but can't find any. Search function came up negatory as well so if anyone can fill a void here it would be appreciated!

Very easy to care for. Does well in any light. Most people will tell you low light / low flow but I had mine right under a 250w mh under high flow with my sps. Did great there and now its in my frag tank under low light and moderate flow still doing well.

You'll want to feed them at least once a week, the more you feed the faster they will grow. I started with 4 polyps and now have 25+

What to feed? Cyclopeeze? Phyto? Bigger stuff?

Thanks for the quick reply Andrew

Very straight forward coral. According to the Aussie coral website it is normally found in waters 20M deep which means extreme lighting is not required. You should allow for twice the branch end (polyp location) area as after it has become comfortable in your tank the polyps expand quite a bit. They are day time feeders and retract at night. Indirect flow is best to allow for full polyp extension. Duncans love brine shrimp and will gobble at will but beware the more you feed the bigger the polyps grow. I used to splash mine with brine every week until I noticed exponential growth. Now I give them a treat every two weeks but otherwise they rely on what the fish miss, DT's, and cyclopease. Mine is still budding. Nice coral!

cyclopeeze will work but they like meaty food. PE Mysis is great, regular uncooked shrimp is better. They can handle surprisingly big pieces but it should still be chopped into small pieces for easier digestion. They are fast eaters It really surprised me how fast they ate when I first got them.

Thanks both of you :)

I had my new colony right up high in the tank with medium flow with mixed results, I will try a lower flow lower light scenario and try feeding PE mysis directly.

I will be upgrading to a 48" TEK six bulb fixture and wondered if I needed to hurry up on that purchase or not.

How long have you had them?

About two days ago. Got them at NAFB on Saturday morning. So far they had almost fully opened until I moved them just now. I will feed them once they open up again. Also I will grab a pic of them too.

Give them time and you will be amazed!

mine just get food when i feed the tank and they are doing very well! and mine is on the bottom of my tank with a 250 14k over the tank, the flow is mixed from high flow at times and goes down to medium.. awesome coral and seems to be very easy to care for!

I'm suprised at how fast this coral grows, really quite impressive in terms of growth.
Mine does well and is not picky about lighting and flow. Like Corpusse I have had mine right under a 250 watt mh and now it's half way down, still going strong and budding new polyps.
Something that I started feeding my LPS a while back is simply soaked NLS pellets. Sometimes I'm lazy to do the shrimp and simply soak some pellets in salt water then feed once softened with the turkey baster. The duncans are not picky eaters!
