Can someone tell me if this is a good deal or worth the money?

This unit is the JBJ 48" Formosa Deluxe Power Compact Fan Cooled Hood. Model number PL-JG3-41. It is brand new and in the box. This unit comes with 4 65watt bulbs for a total of 260 watts. There are 2 10,000K Daylight bulbs and 2 7,100K Actinic bulbs. You may also request to have the hood sent with 4 6,700K Daylight bulbs, which works great for Freshwater aquariums. This unit has built in Electronic Ballast, German Mirror Reflector, German Aluminum Alloy Shell which is corrosion resistant, Independent Power Cords and Switches for the dawn/dusk effect. It can be used with timers for this effect. It also has redesigned ball bearing fans, which will give silent operation. The Deluxe also comes with corrosion resistant end caps which allow the bulbs to easily snap into place. The measurements of this hood are 48"L x 9"W x 3.2"H. This unit can be placed right on your aquarium. There are legs stands available and they can be purchased for $20.00 for the pair. US $329.00 Plus shipping is $34.00 us. so the Total is probably $700.00 Canadian,Then there probably Duty:mad:
Thank You

Hey.
If you are into DIY and can/want to built your own hood then you can DIY the lights by overdrivnng the NO bulbe. There have been various posts about this. For about 250 you could overdrive 4- 4foot t8 bulbs for a total or 320 watts of light. The 250 would include 2 6500 bulbs (*from home depot, 2 actinics from where ever, 4 electronic balast from home depot and the various wireing etc that you would need. If you wanted to you could get 2 bulbs other than the 6500k from HD if you do that you can add about 50 dollars to the cost. I use aluminum tape on the top side of the bulb to reflect most of the light downward. I plan on building a hood in the future, when i do i will probbably paint the inside fo it sks blue. This should reflect any escaping light back into the tank (at a sky blue color). I figure you can build a nice canopy for 100-150 dollars (but i haven't really priced this out yet) so if i am right then you would have to whole set up for about 400 dollars. If you wanted timers you can add 40 (for 4) dollars for the cheap type, or 120 dollars or so (for the digital ones)
