I was in Home Depot and i had the chance to check their fluorescent bulb catalog. Philips has some daylight bulbs having the spectrum of 6700K. 40W ones have the initial lumens of 2250 15W, 18'' ones have in.lim 650. Prices are about 10 bucks. I don't remember where I got these ones probably i took notes from a website these are the other bulbs around 10 bucks and the guy told that it was possible to find them from Home Depot and Wallmart. Since Home Depot changed his suplier now they are selling only philips bulbs. Here are the other ones

40W NO - GE's Chroma 50 - CRI 90 - 5000K
40W NO - Philip's Colortone 50 - CRI 90 - 5000K
40W VHO - Sylvania F40DX - CRI 88 - 6500K
40W VHO - GE DayLight Ultras - CRI ? - 6500K

What do you think? May they work?

I haven't seen them yet, but if they are rated 6700 and are reasonably inexpensive then i say get one or 2 and try them out.

I bought some Philips Ultra Daylight from Home Depot last week for my kitchen, they're very bright & white with slight hint of blue they were rated at 6500K $7.49 for a pair, you can't go wrong if you try them on a tank, worst gets worst you can always use them somewhere in the house...
