I am sure all of you know Mark at BAs here in London. He has been a fixture as the Fish Room Manager for years and was at Pet Paradise (about the best fw store in the city) before that. I called out and was talking to Aaron today and was told Mark resigned a couple of days ago. I was just talking to him Monday. Mark was one of the good guys and always tried to steer people the right way and help them.

I for one will miss sitting down and having long talks with him about all kinds of things. He and I have learned a lot from each other over the years!

I wish him luck in whatever he does!

We are lacking here now that's for sure! Heck I have to drive to KW tomorrow to get PE Mysis. Maybe one of the good sponsors we have on AP will see this and want to open a new branch here!!

Wow,

Wouldn't have seen it coming. He was always willing to listen and answer questions. He helped me greatly when I first started with freshwater 5 years ago. I was hoping he would be around now that I was getting into Saltwater. Did I hear somewhere that new owners took over BA's just recently?

Wow Gary, i read your thread title then highlighted it to browse the content and read the first 10 or so words and...lets just say my heart stopped....if you put this ->" Local London news - A friend is gone" along with this->" I am sure all of you know Mark at BAs here in London." at a quick glance, i totally though something awful(yes losing him from there is awful) had happened.
who will be the new "guru"?

It was a shock to all of us ... I know that he will be sorely missed by all the staff and most of the customers. Not everyone understood his wit and not everyone liked his advise... Marc was definately honest with people. I personally think that for now Aaron will be a fantastic new 'guru' . Marc learned a lot from Aaron and vise versa. There are no new owners though... London store is still Pauls'. Those of you who do come in on a regular basis know that they're going to do what they can to keep things as 'normal' as possible for everyone. Yes yes I know normal is not one of the things you get there as we all have our little quirks. Ssssh lol.

I was just recently thinking how the London BA has really improved in the salt water department they have been getting a decent selection of fish and I can't say enough about how good the staff is. I hope this does not effect the progress that has been made in the salt water dept.

I also hope it doesn't effect the progress.

As for Marc... He is a very good friend of mine and I am sad to see him go. It caught me off guard. All I know is that he said he is semi-retired. See you all Boxing week.

I seems to me that Aaron is doing a good job. I was in on the weekend and was pleasantly surprised to see their selection of corals and fish were as good as I've seen in a while. Hope they can maintain it.

Just came across this thread and and yes it was a surprise to see Mark move on, he always treated everyone the same weather a newbee or 10yr fishaholic. As we all are seeing Aaron has been keeping everything in line and the staff are just as pleasant as ever. Great job on the fish room Aaron and staff.
 Les

For you freshies out there, for some time now, Mark has been back at Adelaide and Huron where he was before.
