I am currently running a Berlin classic with the upgraded Turbo pump and i feel that my alge prob is my skimmer being to small.
125 gallon reef (Berlin style).. Does anyone know about where you can get a home made skimmer and your thoughts on it?
I like the Klaes skimmers but there are pricey
what do you people use for skimming
any idea or thoughts are greatly appreciated
Thanks
Leo

Leo...
Just a thought on the skimmer. Look into the AquaMedic line - Turobflotor 1000. Very good price, EXCELLENT results - and good for tanks up to 250Gal.
Skimmer with pump = $385.00
Skimmer w/o pump = $290.00
+
Taam Rio 2100 pump = $69.99
(without pump - needs the Taam Rio 2100 to run it - needle-wheel conversion kit included)
Total w/Rio pump $359.99

Just a thought...haven't heard any negatives yet!!!
Good luck,

Thanks AJ
I will look into it
I hope to get more replies of what people are using with reefs my size and their likes or dislikes
I am still leaning to a larger skimmer with more air reaction time like a 4ft skimmer but there is so many pros and cons it could make your head spin..lol
Thanks again

Did you get my pics of my refugium AJ?

There is the TurboFlotor 1000 with pump model that comes with an AquaMedic OceanRunner pump. Either this or the Rio series allow the needle-wheel to operate - direct replacement to the existing impeller.
If anyone knows other pumps that will allow direct mounting of the needle-wheel---please do let me know!
NOTE: We are now carrying the Klaes skimmer line! Likely one of the BEST skimmers anywhere! We also have access to AeroFoamers, ETSS, etc.
Send an e-mail stating what size tank and it's parameters, what you keep in your tank (SPS/LPS/FO/etc.) and what your wallet says is the budget...we will inform you as to what the best BANG for the buck will be!
Good luck,

Thanks guys for the info...
I just sent you an e mail AJ for prices on the klaes.. I have done alot of research and the Klaes are def the top of the line..
The reaction time and the fact that they remove organics and not alot of other stuff like some skimmers do could be a pay off in the long run...
I think they are a bit pricey but its like having a porch and complaing about the fuel you use..lol.
Have a good one :) IMO

skimmer looks good.. a little big for my situation..what did it cost you? i'm looking at the 5ft model and it fits behind my tank just perfect
I think if you look at the klaes you will see why there the best on the market They have lots of reaction time and with the asperator on it you only need a small pump to run them.. The coloum of tiny bubble has to be seen to be believed... IMO
Good job on yours bud :)
