Sounds like small feather dusters. Part of a healthy tank. You could scrape them off with a razor blade it they are bugging you. But, they are a small part of your tanks filtration. They filter the water to live.

Instead of using words like "long" and "small", it would help to include estimated measurements so that we might have a better chance of identifying it.
Best to post a picture if you can.

Spawning events are generally a sign of good health in your tank!

well im glad to hear that then! I do have a bit of a red algae problem on some of my live rock. I did a bit (33 gallon) water change yesterday hopeing it would solve a bit of that problem... any suggestions on that? Also, my cardinals have been rubbing themselves up on each other! I think maybe theyre tying to mate too.. ive heard theyre hard to breed though. i have read the post on here about one person who's bangaiis mated... Hope this happens to me too!
