Paul, I have had many people tell me that and I would if I had enough money to buy all the equipment, but keeping the freswater fish gives me a chance to buy parts without going broke,,,,,,,or are we supposed to go broke doing this? :D

Oh, you are defenitely supposed to go broke doing this. Did you not get the memo on that?
Also you are supposed to convert and buy everything in a mad rush as you realize what you have done read the memo man!

I would set the 20 up as a nano.. just put sand, a bit of rock and the water in with a bit of food to start the cycle. After the cycle is complete you can add a damsel or something similar

mantis shrimp? those gusy are really cool cheap and hardy as heck
however i know they are very very very strong so i am guessing they could break your glass and if so then the at idea is out the window..but if not i bet that would make a reallly cool pet!
however i am not sure about the glass, but i am sure there is alot of people oput there that could answer that one.

only thing with a mantis is you would have to keep only it and things you wanted to be its food. They are kinda cool in their won way, but i think the novelty would wear off pretty quick, but thats just me.
If you do decide to get a mantis make sure you do the research first so you know what you are getting into

Ya well, I went to the bad place (Big Al's), just to look because I didn't have enough time to go to Oakville :sorry: , and ended up with alot of stuff that is making me think that even if I made 100K a year I still couldn't afford to do this but guess what,.Kraft Dinner is really cheap :D.

Big Al's is a good place to look around, but leave your Visa and bank card at home, you'll be doing yourself and the ones you love a great service.
Setting up the 20 as a nano tank isn't a bad idea but definately be ready to keep on top of it as water parameters can and do change in a heart beat.
As for the mantis shrimp, who brought that up? They are very cool but need to be kept alone. There is a wealth of information onthem and I think I ran across an online club dedicated to them. They are sometimes refered to as thumb-splitters, have been known to break aquariums and are on the top ten list of fastest animals in the world. (They can extend their front claw faster than the beating of a hummingbird's wings)
Damsels', Clownfish, Cardinals' are all suitable choices for a nano tank.

You know I really didn't think that I was going to buy but then it was like WOW  , I couldn't help myself and before you know it I have a few hundred bucks worth of stuff that I can't use cause I gotta build a stinkin canopy first.
I am so afraid :help:

Yup,
You definately didn't read the memo :D
Welcome to the club, when I started out I went to PJ's and Big Al's, ended up with an undergravel filter and a Fluval canister filter. Oh and some guy at Oceans Alive sold me a Saline Solutions CC skimmer for a really great deal......no wonder he hasn't seen me in 4 years :D

DMAN, you have me scared now. You say a Saline Solutions skimmer :eek1: That's what I bought, should I take it back? Don't forget I am only running 20G now. Oh I hope I didn't get too badly screwed. I shoulda waited and gone to ORG, but they are sooooo far away.

A Saline Solutions CC skimmer is more than adequate for your tank, no worries mate. Counter Current skimmers, when running properly are extremely efficient.
I had a 50 gallon at the time with plans to upgrade in the future, that's where my beef lies.
