My torch has been doing great for 2 months now, (3 new heads) and just recently I had to cut it of its rock because there was red fuzzy algae on it that I didn't want spreading. I moved the torch and it looks pretty decrepid now. Should I try feeding it, or covering it from light or just wait and watch? thanks

How long ago did you do it?
How's the flow in the area?
Is it upstream from any sweeping corals?
How's the tissue where it attaches to the base? (might wanna post a pic if you can)

try changing the flow, for swinging LPS it usually helps.

I did it about 4 days ago. It is in a crevice of a rock, a very nice placement actually. About halfway up the tank. In an area with good medium flow, though at the moment it is reclusive to the crack I placed it in and is not really getting mcuh flow. It is not near any other corals except a baby yellow leather.
I'll change the flow a bit, and should I try feeding it? thanks for your help, I really like this coral!

Get the flow right first. If it's not happy it won't eat and you'll just be fouling your tank. You should see an improvement in a few hours if things are right.

Did you cut it in the water or out?

I tried to cut it in the water but it hit the air a few times for sure. no improvement yet...

How are the rest of your LPS doing?

I have multiple strains of hammer coral and frogspawn and they are all doing very well. I have about 20 heads by now. Not sure if galaxea coral falls under lps, but it is also doing great. My tank specs are very good too, I think I just cut the torch poorly and it is having trouble rebounding. I changed the flow and it is pretty well ideal now. I'll see what it looks like tomorrow.
thanks

Yes I would agree. Leave it be and it should recover.

LPS are a pretty hearty coral. I've seen them is some of the worst tanks and they survive. If your water is OK and it's not suffering from disease it should recover.
