Am I dreaming?

I recently traded the anemone where my percs were hosting to another hobbyist because...well, honestly I got tired of stressing over whether it would choose to move and what it would kill off in the process.

I won't do the same with the percs but ever since I moved the anemone from the tank, they've been lost for a place.

They have loved a couple of lps pieces to death and moved on to others so that I'm now losing more than I was if I'd kept the anemone.

I'd like to try a bubble tip but it appears highly uncertain that the percs would host it and since this is mainly for them, I'm curious....

Anyone know of the chances they will?

Thanks

Tina

the chances of hosting are 50/50. if they are looking for a host they might take a while to get to the BTA and love all your other corals to death on the way, or they might find it right away.

you could always set up a Q-tank with just the anemone in it and introduce the clowns in there. once they start hosting, move them all back into your main display tank.

Are the clowns wild caught or captive raised?

Tina, didn't you have a carpet ? Carpet usually do not move 'upwards' if they have a good place to settle at the bottom with foot bury in sand.

The percs are wild caught.

Yes, I do have a carpet, soon to be going to a new home, it's in another tank not with the clowns. It has a anemone crab as it's host and I haven't wanted to introduce the clowns to an anemone that's not staying.

I've had good success with anemones what I have a bad time with is.....leaving things alone :(

Thanks for your help.

If you have some acclimated anemones, you might want to stick with some bottom dwelling anemones (haddoni carpet, long tenacle (M.doreensis)), they usually do not climb if you have adequte lighting and a safe place for it to put the foot in. Otherwise just remove the clowns :)

In my experience, t.r. or w.c. clowns does not make a difference after they 'learnt' to take host in an anemone. Once they know what it is for, they recognise it much faster. Being said, your clowns might 'host' immediately if you introduce a new anemoen, of course it's the anemone that you might have to worry about it acclimating well.

good luck

I have a pair of percs in a Sebae. The sebae generally finds a spot on the bottom and burrows in the sand staying put.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions. I guess I'll think on it alittle more. Not getting rid of the clowns, they stay :D

I was thinking on their comfort and it looks like I stand to lose coral one way or possibly another. Losing the LPS is a given by what I've seen thus far :(

Take care

:iagree: with bioload. I introduced a bubble-tip to my percs but all it does is move around the tank and the pair didn't like that. They moved to the Sebae which finds a spot near the bottom usually in a corner and stays.
Good Luck..
