Just a tip in case you didn't know. So called Limewood Airstones, those sold by Hagen and others for use on skimmers can be home made.
You won't find it as Limewood in Canada but you will find it as Basswood. It can be bought at most places that cater to wood carvers. You can usually also get a chunk free from places that sell fire wood, at least in Eastern Canada. It is native to Ont and Que (at least) and is nearly useless as firewood due to its light weight and fast burn. Just find someone that cuts their own firewood and ask them if they have a chunk of basswood you can have. Cut it into cross grain peices and drill the center. Buy one set of Hagen airstones because they use screw in nipples instead of glued in. Now you have new airstones for your monthly change without the cost.
