I have two questions. First of all, would a 25 watt halogen, be too little, or too much light for an AC 500 fuge? And should the flow rate be reduced ie. trimming the impeller. I'm using LR and Cheato.

A halogen lamp is really the incorrect type of lamp for an aquarium. The spectral emission is incorrect for the needs of the inhabitants except for the unwanted algae which will thrive under halogen lamps.

Thanks Kev. I was wondering if that was the right kind of light. Any thoughts about the flow rate?

You are welcome.

Here is a link to an article by Steven Pro (http://www.wetwebmedia.com/hagenrefugart.htm) on how to convert the Aquaclear 500 into an workable refugium.

:) HTH. :)
