For those who havn't seen a Mantis shrimp... These amazing little... *cough* I mean 'fair sized' shrimps have been known to bust tanks open by using its super powerfull arms to crack glass!
on the other hand... they are known as 'Thumb Splitters'... aquiring this name by... well I guess the name is self explanitory!
These shrimps are usually pests accidentaly recieved through the addition of new live rock to an aquarium... They are quite distructive... If you have fish dissappearing for no appearent reason... The mantis shrimp very well could be the culprit!
If you do have a mantis shrimp problem, they have some fish and or mantis shrimp traps on the market.
I personally haven't had to deal with one yet, but if you have any information getting rid of these curious little *cough* pests, please feel more then free to post your experiences.
And again, for those who havn't ever seen one of these magnificent looking creatures, I will post up a few pics for you!
